Donjeta Zeqa: Breast Cancer Stigma Doesn’t End When Treatment Ends

Donjeta Zeqa, President at Europa Donna Albania, shared on LinkedIn:

“Breast cancer stigma doesn’t end when treatment ends.

This was one of the key messages I wanted to bring to MAMMÔ 2026 – Global Breast Cancer Virtual Congress, where I had the pleasure of contributing as an invited speaker.

My presentation, Breaking the Silence, explored how stigma, cultural taboos and inequalities across European healthcare systems continue to shape the experiences of women affected by breast cancer, particularly in the Western Balkans. Because surviving breast cancer should not mean continuing to face discrimination, social exclusion or barriers to rebuilding your life.

As patient advocates, our responsibility goes beyond raising awareness. We must challenge the barriers that remain long after treatment is over.

A special thank you to OncoDaily for the kind invitation, and continuous support throughout these years.”
