Dolores Hambardzumyan, Professor and Scientific Director of the Brain Tumor Center at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, shared a post by Zhihong (Z) Chen, Chief Technology Officer at OCCAM Immune, adding:
“Huge thanks to the outstanding HIMC team and the Hambardzumyan Lab members, especially Montse Puigdelloses Vallcorba, PhD, for leading the project, and to all collaborators, reviewers and editors for their excellent work on our new JCI paper. HIMC‘s advanced technologies, icluding Orion spatial proteomics were vital for resolving the immune landscape at single-cell and spatial levels. Grateful for everyone’s rigor, responsiveness, and creativity. I look forward to continuing our current projects and exploring new collaborative opportunities with the HIMC team and the outstanding Zhihong (Z) Chen! This work would not be possible without the generous support of the Ian’s Friends Foundation, The National Institutes of Health, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.”
Quoting Zhihong (Z) Chen‘s post:
“Congrats to Dr. Hambardzumyan, Scientific Director of the UPenn Brain Tumor Center, on their new JCI paper (PMID: 41433099) tackling glioblastoma (GBM)—one of the most aggressive brain tumors. While alterations in DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes are observed in a subset of GBM patients, this work shows that MMR gene alterations in GBM don’t always mean high mutation burden or immunotherapy response.
Surprisingly, MMR loss can fuel tumor progression and therapy resistance by creating an immune-suppressive tumor microenvironment, pointing to potential therapies like KL-50.
The HIMC is proud to collaborate and provide multiple advanced technological and data analysis supports, including scRNA-seq and Orion spatial proteomics assays, to this study, enabling unprecedented, high-resolution mapping of the tumor immune landscape.
If you are interested in how our advanced technologies can power your research, feel free to reach out!”
