Dhwani Babla: Highlight From Our Global Platform Journey

Dhwani Babla, Program Coordinator, Global Agencies at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:

“Another highlight from our Global Platform journey – visiting Senegal, our first Francophone country!

What an incredible experience. Senegal felt like a whirlwind of information, landscapes, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how committed the Ministry of Health, local hospitals, and care teams are to improving access to childhood cancer care.

The dedication, collaboration, and creativity we witnessed were truly inspiring.

It was especially humbling to see local teams tackling challenges and overcoming barriers to ensure that children and families receive timely care. Visiting the facilities and engaging directly with the teams reinforced why this work matters so much – strengthening systems, supporting providers, and ultimately making a real difference in the lives of children.

Grateful to everyone who made this visit possible, and excited to continue collaborating to strengthen childhood cancer care across the region!”

Dhwani Babla also added:

“It’s been an eventful 2025 thus far! From announcing the second wave of pilot cohort countries for the Global Platform, to speaking at the UN Multi-Stakeholder Hearing on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the Promotion of Mental Health, navigating the planning of our second Global Platform Forum amidst global uncertainties, and now participating in our second cohort country visits; it’s been an incredible journey.

I’m thrilled to celebrate the successful completion of our Ghana visit. It was inspiring to meet with the National Steering Committee, and to witness the dedication and collaboration driving progress in access to childhood cancer medicines. A huge thank you to everyone who made this visit such a success!

Our journey in Ghana was beautifully captured by the WHO communications team – see more here.

We, the Global Platform team, is looking forward to continuing this important work together and making a real difference for children and families around the world.”
