“I am truly honored to have been invited to speak at the London Global Cancer Week Roundtable Discussion on Financing Cancer Services Worldwide on 26 November at the Royal Society of Medicine.
This high-level gathering will bring together leading voices from governments, global health institutions, financing agencies, philanthropy, academia, and civil society to discuss openly how we can secure sustainable and fair financing for cancer services worldwide.
My key message as President of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO)for the discussion is clear: many cancer control plans around the world remain unfunded and therefore undelivered, especially in low and middle-income countries where the needs are greatest.
Yet we know that when political will is matched with long-term financing, accountability, and a genuine people-centered approach, real progress is possible, as Europe has shown. The challenge ahead is not about whether solutions exist, but whether we have the courage and integrity to fund and implement the commitments we make to people affected by cancer.
I look forward to learning from fellow participants, sharing insights, and working together to ensure no one is left behind in the fight against cancer!”
