Debra Patt: COA Committee to Improve Access to Advanced Therapies

Debra Patt, President of the Community Oncology Alliance, shared a post by Community Oncology Alliance on LinkedIn, adding:

“This work is so important as we pave the way to improve access to advanced therapies to patients in our communities.”

Quoting Community Oncology Alliance‘s post:

“We are proud to announce the formation of a committee to address patient access to cellular therapies like CAR T. These therapies improve remission rates and offer curative potential for difficult-to-treat cancers and other diseases, yet barriers remain that prevent many patients from accessing them.

The COA Cellular Therapy Committee has issued a position statement calling for collaboration between payers, employers, providers, and other industry stakeholders to increase access in community oncology practices by modernizing old payment structures and authorization requirements. COA President Debra Patt  noted that, ‘Advanced therapies have changed the lives of many patients, but we have also witnessed the difficulty of navigating individual payer policies to secure access to those therapies’.”
