Debanjan Kundu Presents Evidence Supporting Biosimilars in Resource-Constrained Settings

Debanjan Kundu, Clinical and Radiation Oncologist at Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“A Milestone in My Academic Journey.

I am humbled and honored to share that our research was selected for an Oral Presentation at the Best of 19th St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference and Asian Cancer Consensus Meet – one of Asia’s most prestigious breast oncology platforms – held at Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata, 6-8th March 2026.

In a country where treatment affordability remains a critical challenge, our work explores how biosimilar anti HER2 targeted agents democratize HER2-positive breast cancer care without compromising outcomes – a question deeply relevant to our Low & Middle Income Country (LMIC) setting.

Our real-world data regarding cost minimization analysis contributes meaningfully to the evidence base for biosimilar adoption in resource-constrained settings.

Tagged with the theme of ‘Bridging Continents, Building Consensus – The Future of Breast Oncology Starts Here’ the conference brought together international legends including Prof. Beat Thurlimann, Prof. Jens Huober, Prof. Moustapha Hamdi, and Prof. Marc Thill, alongside hundreds of dedicated surgical, medical, and radiation oncologists across India.

The lectures and deliberations stretched from cutting-edge genomics and AI in breast health, to nuanced debates on de-escalation strategies and locoregional treatment. The Radiation Oncology workshop, guided by the enigmatic Dr Sushil Beriwal sir, on March 7 delved deep into nitty gritties of breast radiotherapy. The consensus meetings on March 8 were a masterclass in multidisciplinary thinking. The intellectual energy was electric, and the spirit of academic camaraderie was palpable throughout.

Heartfelt gratitude to my incredible mentors including Dr Chandrani Mallik ma’am for being a bedrock of inspiration concerning our presentation.

Indebted to the organizing team led by Dr Soumen Das, Dr. Tanmoy Kumar Mandal and Dr. Sayan Paul, MD,DNB,MNAMS sir for creating such an extraordinary platform.

To every colleague working tirelessly to make cancer care more accessible and equitable – this one is for our patients.”
