David Skorton: Reflecting on AAMC’s Journey With Our Past Presidents on the 150th Anniversary

David Skorton, President and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“As AAMC marks its 150th anniversary, I’m honored to reflect on the organization’s journey with two of our past presidents, the estimable Darrell G. Kirch, MD and Jordan J. Cohen, MD.

From its beginnings in the 19th century through its emergence as the nation’s foremost advocate for the highest standards in medical education, scientific research, patient care, and community collaborations, the organization has nonetheless faced challenges, from misinformation to threats to evidence-based science to looming physician shortages.  I invite my academic medicine colleagues to look back on the past 150 years with pride but also with humility, recognizing that there are still challenges to be faced, both as an organization and a profession, to improve the health of people everywhere.”
