David Harper, Head of Property Services at Hotel Partners Africa, Chairperson of Hospitality Beats Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:
“This summer I will be walking Hadrian’s Wall in aid of Cancer Research and if I can raise £10,000 with your help.
It was previously thought that the Romans built the wall to keep the Scots out (new research suggests this may not be true), but as a very proud Englishman, I promise that if I raise £10,000 in sponsorship I will do all five days in full braveheart guise – kilt, red wig, Mel Gibson face paint.
I have been raising money for Cancer Research since my Dad died in 1991 and while we have lost far too many people since then, money raised though events such as this means that we have seen some amazing scientific breakthroughs to give us all hope.
Cancer Research are making ground-breaking discoveries all the time.
The issue is that no one knows which research projects will make the next discovery – so many promising research proposals have to be postponed. But if we manage to raise money for them, they can say yes to more projects potentially finding that breakthrough.
Please help – if not to make me get in touch with my inner Scot, then to help the 1 in 2 people who will be directly impacted by the big C.
Thank you.”
