David Diaz, Executive Director of The Reluctant Brotherhood, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m honored to share that my latest article has been published by Health Union on ProstateCancer.net.
Living With Prostate Cancer Isn’t What I Expected as a Younger Man is a reflection on something I wish someone had told me when I was diagnosed with stage 4B prostate cancer at 45.
We spend so much time talking about diagnosis and treatment, but not enough about what comes after. The side effects. The uncertainty. The emotional weight. The reality that survivorship isn’t a finish line – it’s learning to build a meaningful life while continuing to adapt.
Nearly nine years later, I’m still figuring parts of it out. What has changed is how I carry it. I’ve stopped waiting to feel like the person I was before cancer and started embracing the person I’m becoming.
If you’re living with prostate cancer, love someone who is, or simply want to better understand what long-term survivorship can look like, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it.
I’d love to hear what resonated with you.”
