Dario Trapani, Medical Oncologist at European Institute of Oncology (IEO), Researcher at Department of Oncology and Hemato-Oncology at University of Milan, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Together with Rodrigo Lastra del Prado, we had the pleasure of meeting the CEO Dr Joan Brunet Vidal and the clinical, research and overall care team of the Institut Català d’Oncologia Catalan Institute of Oncology, ICO and we learnt about the incredible initiatives ongoing, on how to enhance person-centric care and re-orient the system of care toward people’s priorities.
We enjoyed the inspirational psycho-onco team FRANCISCO LUIS GIL MONCAYO and Anna Casellas Grau, PhD , the initiatives undertaken and the research prospects. The perspective is deeply rooted in public health and aligned with UN SDGs by institutional mandate, embracing innovation by acknowledging value, and serve all people in need UHC.
Rodrigo and me presented the key connections with the Common Sense Oncology and linked to national initiatives including RIO.
It was a rich and encouraging conversation, grounded in a common belief: that cancer care and cancer research must remain profoundly anchored to
What truly matters for patients: meaningful outcomes, quality of life, access, equity, sustainability, and clinical decisions guided not only by innovation as a silos, but by ultimate value.
We left the meeting with a strong sense of alignment, and with the conviction that there is meaningful work we can do together.
Looking forward to building bridges, developing concrete initiatives, and continuing this shared effort to make oncology more patient-centred, more equitable, and more sensible!”
