Dario Trapani: Strengthening Drug Governance Through AIFA and AIOM Collaboration

Dario Trapani, Medical Oncologist at European Institute of Oncology (IEO), Researcher at Department of Oncology and Hemato-Oncology at University of Milan, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“An important collaboration between the Italian Medicines Agency AIFA and the Italian Association of Medical Oncology AIOM for the common goal of informing the best health policies, which derive from a clinical practice of high therapeutic valore.

A new combination between oncologists and regulators to enhance the information assets of the Monitoring Registry and transform Real World data into scientific evidence to support drug governance.

The establishment of this joint technical table, which also sees the participation of FICOG and CIPOMO, represents a decisive step towards:

  1.  Appropriate prescription, to promote an increasingly targeted use of oncological medicines.
  2. Comparative analysis, to integrate the data of daily clinical practice with those of registration studies.
  3. Sustainability and Innovation to support regulatory and organizational decisions based on priority criteria and clinical relevance.

As underlined by the AIFA Technical-Scientific Director, Pierluigi Russo, and by the AIOM President Massimo Di Maio, the structured dialogue between the institutions and those who work daily in the field is essential to guide the choices of the SSN, ensuring that innovation translates into a real benefit for patients.

A unique infrastructure in Europe that, thanks to this synergy, strengthens Italy’s role in the production of data with high scientific value!”
