Daniel O’Day: What Equity in Access Looks Like in Practice

Daniel O’Day, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Gilead Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today was an unforgettable day.

Our new long-acting HIV prevention medicine has arrived in Eswatini, completing a journey that began in Gilead labs 17 years ago. For the first time in history, a new HIV medicine is available in sub-Saharan Africa in the same year as FDA approval.

This is what equity in access looks like in practice. Thank you to the Gilead teams, our partners the Global Fund, the U.S government through PEPFAR, and many others for making this a reality. We have shown what is possible when Science, Partnership and Purpose come together.

Thank you also to the people of Eswatini for hosting us in your incredible country. We are proud that lenacapavir can now be part of the efforts to end HIV.”
