Early Detection, Targeted Therapies, and Immunotherapy Advances in Pancreatic Cancer – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Pancreatic cancer has long been difficult to detect and treat – but experts in the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research are working to change that.

At the American Association for Cancer Research special conference on Advances in Pancreatic Cancer Research, experts shared new findings in three key areas:

  • Early detection: Using artificial intelligence to identify warning signs in medical records and testing new imaging and blood-based biomarkers to find pancreatic cancer sooner.
  • Targeted therapies: Leading clinical trials of RAS inhibitors – medicines designed to inhibit or degrade mutant RAS proteins – found in about 95% of pancreatic cancers.
  • Immunotherapy: Identifying cell-surface ‘flags,’ called antigens, that appear on pancreatic cancer cells but not on other cells – findings that could lead to new vaccines and T cell therapies.
