“The 26-Year Bond: CUHK Medicine and Med Can’s Cashier Amy.
At the CU Medicine, what medical alumni and staff hold dearest might just be ‘Med Can’ – the campus canteen that quietly kept everyone going, day in and day out.
From 1996 until it closed its doors in 2022, Amy manned the till here for 26 years, witnessing the medical school transform into a world-class institution. The signature lemon tarts she handed over, along with her trademark catchphrase – ‘Have you had breakfast yet?’ – warmed the hearts of countless medical students, turning Med Can into a comforting haven.
As the years slipped by, those green medical students have blossomed into brilliant professors and doctors. Yet, they still cherish this family-like bond. The greatness of a medical school lies not only in the passing down of clinical knowledge, but in the profound humanity behind the white coats.
