“Alia holds the unique role of Specialist Oncology Pharmacist for our national cancer consent forms. Based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, this role is pivotal in ensuring patients receiving cancer treatment are fully informed about the possible benefits, side effects, and overall impact of their cancer treatment.
‘Our consent forms help people to have smooth, structured discussions on new treatments,’ explains Alia. ‘By making information clear and accessible, we enable clinicians to safely adopt new SACT (systematic anti-cancer therapy) regimens. This ensures that advancements in cancer research reach patients safely and efficiently.’
This year, we’re celebrating 10 years since the launch of our Systemic Anti – Cancer Therapy (SACT) consent forms. Joining the project in 2019, Alia has been part of the evolution of the library, which has seen an increase in downloads by healthcare professionals every year, and has become the ‘gold standard’ for cancer drug consent, relied upon by hospitals across the UK.
