Cancer Research UK (CRUK), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today almost 100 of our volunteer campaigns ambassadors came together in Westminster to launch Unlock Cancer Breakthroughs, our new campaign calling on the UK government to speed up clinical trials, attract more global talent to the UK and protect future funding for cancer research.
Currently, avoidable delays to setting up clinical trials, challenges in attracting researchers from around the world and risks to long-term investment are threatening further progress on beating cancer. These barriers mean new treatments and innovations are taking too long to reach patients, costing people affected by cancer time and hope they can’t afford to lose.
To make the case for these much-needed changes, our ambassadors met with MPs from across the political spectrum at a special event in Parliament. Our new call to government comes off the back of the huge success of our Smoke free UK campaign, championed by our ambassadors, which earlier this year helped secure historic new legislation to ban the sale of tobacco products to anyone born on or after 1 Jan 2009.
To find out more about the campaign and join our call to the UK government to remove the barriers holding back research, visit our website.”
