”We are proud to spotlight Dr. Chinenye Iwuji, a Co-Principal Investigator on the COSTFIN study and a key leader at Lakeshore Cancer Center.

Dr. Iwuji is a Medical Oncologist and Head of Medical Oncology at Lakeshore Cancer Center, where she specializes in the treatment of solid tumors and palliative care. She brings a strong combination of clinical expertise, research leadership, and commitment to strengthening oncology care in Nigeria.

She holds a Master’s in Oncology from the University of Nottingham and a PhD in Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine from the University of Leicester, where she also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer. Before joining Lakeshore, she worked as a medical consultant at Leicester Royal Infirmary in the United Kingdom.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Iwuji is deeply committed to advancing global oncology through education, mentorship, and health-system strengthening. She has contributed to oncology and communication-skills training through Africa Partners Medical and JOS UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, serves on the Steering Committee for the Royal Society of Medicine’s Global Cancer Care Programme, and is President of the British Nigerian Oncology Group.

As a Co-PI of COSTFIN, Dr. Iwuji helps lead our work examining how financial navigation can reduce the financial burden of cancer care for people with breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers.
