National Cancer Centre Singapore shared a post on LinkedIn:
“NCCS is making waves in colorectal cancer research!
Colo-SCRIPT (Colorectal cancer subtype-specific research informs phenotypes, diagnostics & treatments) secured a substantial $25 million through the NMRC Open Fund – Large Collaborative Grant (OF-LCG) Led by Prof Iain Tan from NCCS and in partnership with A STAR – Agency for Science, Technology and Research, alongside Duke-NUS Medical School, Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Singapore General Hospital, the programme aims to improve the understanding of colorectal cancer and implement prevention and early detection strategies.
Prof Iain Tan clinched the NMRC Clinician Scientist Award – Senior Investigator for his novel work in precision medicine. As 95% of metastatic colorectal cancers don’t respond to current immunotherapies, Prof Tan aims to develop tailored immunotherapy approaches for each subset of colorectal cancer
Clin Asst Prof Shuting Han received the NMRC Transition Award for her translational research to enhance treatment outcomes for colorectal cancer patients undergoing T cell therapy, whose immune cells are usually too damaged to fight effectively
40+ research papers on colorectal cancer published in top-tier journals in the past two years. This includes a Cell Reports Medicine study introducing CAN-Scan, a machine learning platform that predicts clinical outcomes and guides personalised treatments for colorectal cancer patients.
Proud of the team for their remarkable achievements as we look forward to game-changing discoveries and innovations that will bring hope to colorectal cancer patients in Singapore and beyond.”
