Clémentine Geffroy: Pfizer Global Health Fellows Experience with Zambian Cancer Society

Clémentine Geffroy, France Medical Communications and Content Lead at Pfizer, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Pfizer GHF x ZCS: The Work That Changes You While You Do It.

I recently had the chance to be part of the Pfizer Global Health Fellows (GHF) program to support the Zambian Cancer Society (ZCS) in shaping their communication strategy. The Pfizer GHF is a program that enables Pfizer colleagues to share skills in service of strengthening health systems.

After two months of remote work, my amazing Pfizer colleagues Neha Londono, Margarita Rozenshteyn, Nadia Rahman and I started 2026 by spending 10 days in Lusaka with ZCS.
And let me say that it has been intense in the best way: eye‑opening and heart‑stretching.

I witnessed what community truly means. There is something unique in the way ZCS mobilizes communities. Through their tremendous work, they bring caregivers, survivors, patients, and health professionals together, standing shoulder to shoulder raise awareness, facilitate screening and to build strong support networks.

This experience brought a few powerful truths back to the surface:

  • Impactful communication isn’t a “nice to have”; it’s a critical part of care. When done with intention, it turns information into action and can genuinely change the trajectory of a disease.
  • Local voices and community ownership are where credibility and impact begin. When people see themselves in the message, they move.
  • Collaboration across communities and organizations creates exponential strength. When strength builds on strength, real transformation happens.
  • Focus, prioritization, and empathy aren’t just leadership qualities: they are lifelines, especially in low‑resource settings where every action must count.

For 10 days, being surrounded by such powerful, dedicated women and men left me feeling humble, grateful, and profoundly inspired. I am proud to play a small part alongside the Zambian Cancer Society and so many committed partners.

It’s the kind of work that reshapes your perspective while you’re doing it. To my teammates for your strength and laughter; to ZCS for your kindness and vision; to the Global Health Fellows team and my manager John Gordon for believing in me and this opportunity: Thank you.

The fight against cancer is global, and community by community, message by message, hope travels.

If you want to support the Zambian Cancer Society and their incredible mission:

  • Follow and amplify ZCS: share their posts and spread awareness messages: Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok
  • Read their issue #1 of the Dukutober Cancer Wellness Magazine, especially as issue #2 will be out in the coming weeks
  • Support their work: Learn more on how to partner.”
