“Every day, a child waits for a cancer diagnosis or treatment that can change their chance of survival.
In Nairobi, Kenya, Dr Irene Nzamu is addressing delayed pediatric referrals by testing a real-time telephone hotline that connects peripheral primary health facilities directly with the pediatric oncology team at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Dr Nzamu developed her research concept during the International Collaboration for Research Methods Development in Oncology (CReDO) workshop in India, where she built out the study protocol and implementation design. The project has since progressed from protocol development to implementation as part of C/Can’s Nairobi city programme.
