Chrystal Paulos, Professor and Co-leader of the Cancer Immunology Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Some undergraduate projects are solid. Some are promising. And then there are the rare ones that make you stop and say… wait a second!!!
Kailey Diatikar, an undergraduate researcher in our lab (Paulos) at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, presented a poster at the 5th Annual UGA–Winship Cancer Research Summit showing that she can generate potent T cells capable of ablating lung and brain metastases in an aggressive solid preclinical tumor model. That is not a small result.
This work is part of a collaboration between Dr. Lisa Sudmeier, Megen Wittling, and me, with Catherine Lemons as an important co-author and a key contributor to advancing the study. Thanks to other clutch scientists in the Paulos/Sudmeier crew for helping make this happen.
Even better news for Team Awesome: Kailey is staying with us as a research specialist before heading to an MSTP program. Exactly the kind of scientist you hope stays in the field of translational medicine.
Very proud of her and excited to see what she does next.”
