Christine M. Lovly, Ingram Associate Professor of Cancer Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last night, the LUNGevity Foundation raised over $1M to support lungcancer research at the Celebration of Hope and Progress Gala. This phenomenal organization has been a foundation for me over the past 12 years of my time as a lung cancer physician and researcher, so receiving the 2025 “Face of Hope Award for an individual who not only recognizes the profound needs of those living with lung cancer but is also making a tangible impact on the disease” is like a dream come true.
In addition to celebrating Hope and Progress, I would also like to celebrate and acknowledge with such love and respect the amazing lungcancer community. I am so grateful to everyone who came to elevate lung cancer patients, to acknowledge the importance of lung cancer advocacy, to support research, and to continue to push the boundaries on progress, holding hope high. Special thanks to Amanda Nerstad for the beautiful intro and for the inspiration she shares with all of us every day in her advocacy work. And to Upal Basu Roy and Andrea Ferris for their belief in me when I was a brand new lung cancer doc and for their tireless efforts towards making LUNGevity such a powerhouse for the lungcancer community.
Finally, I accept this award in special memory of Dr. Massion Pierre. Pierre loved the LUNGevity Foundation and was pivotal in its genesis. He believed so strongly in the mission and was a passion advocate for lungcancer early detection and screening. We continue to feel his loss every day at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.”
