Christianez Ratna Kiruba: When Families Hide Cancer Diagnoses, Patients Suffer

Christianez Ratna Kiruba, Resident Physician at Satribari Christian Hospital and Lead Editor of Nivarana, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The first ever story I had written was titled, ‘Someone you know has cancer. Should you hide the diagnosis from them.’ I co-wrote it with a dear friend and my current co-lead editor Parth Sharma.

This was published in The Hindu and talked about how when Indian patients get diagnosed with cancer, their relatives try to hide that diagnosis from them. It established how doing this leads the patients to suffering, loss of mental peace, and poorer health outcomes in the end.

Read the republished version of the story on Nivarana.”
