Christian Ntizimira: Exchanging Perspectives on Palliative Care at Greece’s Galilea Centre

Christian Ntizimira, Executive Director of ACREOL, shared a post on X:

“Kalimera from Athens!

A few weeks ago, during my participation in the 2026 Stavros Niarchos Foundation Conference and the Tällberg Foundation meeting, I had the privilege of visiting Galilea Palliative Care Centre, Greece’s only dedicated palliative care centre.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity to learn from Galilea’s remarkable work, introduce the Safari Concept, and exchange perspectives on the cultural, relational, and clinical dimensions of palliative care. Despite our different contexts, we discovered many shared principles and important lessons that can strengthen practice in Greece, Rwanda, and globally.

My sincere gratitude to Despoina Anagnostou for making this connection possible. I also warmly thank Dr. Aliki Tserkezoglou, Ioanna Prasini, and Dr. Alex Nicolozakes of Western Reserve Hospice in Ohio, USA, for the generous exchange of experiences and best practices.

Palliative care has no borders when it is grounded in dignity, compassion, and our shared humanity. I hope to welcome you all to Rwanda soon.”
