Christel Paganoni-Bruijns, Chief Executive Officer at World Ovarian Cancer Coalition, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day (WOCD2026), a day to raise awareness of the deadliest gynecological cancers and the urgent need for earlier diagnosis, better treatment access, and more lives saved.
Looking at Iris van Herpen’s breathtaking ‘Airo’ Dress worn by Eileen Gu, I could not stop thinking about women living with ovarian and fallopian tube cancer.
15,000 hand-formed bubbles. Constant transformation. A silhouette existing through movement and atmosphere. The dress expresses fluidity, fragility, and invisibility, much like the symptoms of ovarian cancer itself. Symptoms that are often subtle, misunderstood, or dismissed until it is too late.
This is why World Ovarian Cancer Day matters. Too many women are diagnosed late because awareness of symptoms remains far too low. Earlier recognition, faster diagnosis, and access to expert surgery and treatment save lives.
At the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition, our Reach For The Scars campaign asks the world to look beyond the scars of ovarian cancer and recognize the stories, survival, loss, and resilience carried by women around the world.
Because behind every scar is a life. And behind every vague symptom could be a woman who deserves to be heard sooner.”
