A New Standard of Care for Young People with Advanced Hodgkin Lymphoma – Children’s Oncology Group

Children’s Oncology Group shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A landmark achievement in cancer research is changing the standard of care for young people with advanced Hodgkin lymphoma.

Following the groundbreaking S1826 clinical trial, in March 2026 the FDA approved nivolumab in combination with chemotherapy for newly diagnosed Stage III and Stage IV classic Hodgkin lymphoma in adults as well as adolescents.

This approval marks a rare and extraordinary milestone: adolescents ages 12 and over gained access to this treatment at the same time as adults, which is a significant departure from the years-long delay that has historically existed between adult and pediatric approvals.

The S1826 study was a collaborative effort led by SWOG and Children’s Oncology Group, with COG enrolling nearly one-third of all study participants and helping complete enrollment ahead of schedule.

As Dr. Kara Kelly noted, incorporating nivolumab into standard treatment,

‘…is going to save lives and meaningfully improve quality of life for young people with advanced Hodgkin lymphoma.’

Read more about the power of collaboration within a research community committed to turning findings into futures.”
