“Making crossborder healthcare work requires more than good intentions.
It needs clear rules, sustainable reimbursement, practical support, and a way for healthcaresystems to work together across borders.
The EU Cross-border Healthcare Directive (CBHC Directive) provides an important framework, and its revision is an opportunity to address the gaps children and adolescents with cancer, and their families, still face.
This matters beyond the EU, too.
EU legislation could help set the direction for greater European cooperation, enabling countries to collaborate to ensure children and adolescents with cancer receive the care they need, regardless of where they live.
