“For some children and adolescents with cancer, getting the treatment they need means leaving everything familiar behind. But even when treatment is available across the border, accessing it is a different story.
For families, cross – border treatment can mean finding the right centre, securing the financial means, navigating bureaucracy and making complex arrangements, while their child is receiving treatment. It can also mean leaving loved ones behind, disrupting familylife and placing additional emotional and practical burdens on the whole family.
Cross – border healthcare should not leave families to navigate these challenges alone.
