“Major Win for Childhood Cancer Advocacy: UN Adopts GICC Target!
Wonderful news for our global community: The UN General Assembly has officially adopted the Final Political Declaration on NCDs and Mental Health.
Crucially, the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC) target was retained within the declaration:
‘Improve childhood cancer survival through scaling up interventions in order to achieve a survival rate of at least 60 per cent globally by 2030…’ (p. 9)
This tremendous achievement highlights the power of our collective advocacy and leadership. It would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our members and partners.
As we celebrate this milestone, our work continues. The next step is ensuring governments uphold and implement these vital commitments for childhood cancer and pediatric NCDs.
