Medicaid Cancer Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Our Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Kebbi State Office, successfully conducted its Childhood Cancer Awareness program at the College of Health Technology, Jega.

The program commenced with a courtesy visit to the school leadership, where the team was warmly received by the provost of the school, Mr. Hussaini Aliyu Birnin Kebbi, and Dr. Bala Chonoko (Deputy Provost, Academic).

Following the visit, an interactive sensitization session was held with the students. Dr. Ismail delivered an engaging presentation on the different types of childhood cancers, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and the need for timely medical attention. He emphasized that early detection greatly improves treatment outcomes and survival chances.

During the session, students were also provided with information on designated referral centers in Birnin Kebbi where suspected cancer cases can be directed.

This practical guidance aimed to empower the students, as future health professionals, to play an active role in early cancer detection, and referral within their communities.

A lively Q&A session followed, during which students asked insightful questions that were comprehensively addressed by the resource person. The interaction highlighted the student’s strong interest and improved understanding of the subject matter.

IEC Materials targeting childhood cancer sensitization were distributed to all participants, and a memorial group photograph was taken to capture the moment.

Overall, the event was well-organized, fully executed as planned, and achieved its primary objective of raising awareness about childhood cancer among students of the College of Health Technology, Jega.”
