Cheng Ean Chee: IARC Grand Rounds Spotlight Gastric Cancer Prevention Strategies

Cheng Ean Chee, Executive Director at National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, shared on LinkedIn:

“It was a privilege to welcome Dr Jin Young Park, who leads the Gastric Cancer Prevention Team at the IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization, to the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore.

Dr Park delivered an outstanding Grand Rounds on Helicobacter pylori screen-and-treat strategies for gastric cancer prevention, drawing on the landmark 2026 IARC Working Group Report published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Her presentation brought together the global evidence with a clear and compelling message: gastric cancer is not only a disease we should detect earlier—it is increasingly a cancer we can prevent.

Her visit was especially timely alongside our Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium (SGCC) Annual Scientific Meeting (15-16 July 2026), where clinicians, scientists and partners came together to discuss how we can translate emerging evidence into research, implementation and population-level impact in Singapore and beyond.

Thank you, Dr Park, for an inspiring lecture and for the thoughtful discussions with our NCIS and SGCC colleagues. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration and advancing this important work together.”
