“As I was driving to work this morning and listening to the news, I heard it’s World Kindness Day. Isn’t that beautiful?
Today is rainy and dark (as November often is) so seems a bit more difficult to smile but that simple new made me smile and reflect. This should be everyone’s Day , the kind of day when we all choose to be kind to one another’s.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But even in our field, where nurses are supposed to always show kindness to our patients, sometimes it doesn’t happen. We find it difficult.
Sometimes the kindness of someone else prompts us to be kind to ourselves and to others. Because we should remember to be kind to ourselves.
So here’s my invitation on World Kindness Day: Be kind to someone near you (not just the ones you like!)
Let’s start the chain of Kindness.
PS: Early this morning, I read in the newspaper the name of someone who became a friend many years ago on a plane. He was always kind and seeing how he has grown makes me super proud.
Kindness matters.”
