Catherine Alix-Panabières, Director of the Laboratory of Rare Human Circulating Cells and Professor of Universities – Hospital Practitioner at Montpellier University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Back from an extraordinary trip to Minnesota… and what a journey it has been!
It all started with a kind invitation from Fabrice Lucien to visit the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I had the privilege of giving a one-hour lecture and meeting so many inspiring group leaders working at the forefront of liquid biopsy research. It was a pleasure to exchange ideas with Aadel Chaudhuri and to reconnect with members of Minetta Liu’s former group. The scientific discussions were stimulating and full of exciting perspectives for the future.
The adventure then continued to Austin, Minnesota, where I attended a memorable speakers’ dinner at the famous SPAMMuseum. An unexpected highlight was meeting the Mayor of Austin, Steve KING, who generously presented me with the Key to the City – a truly unforgettable honor!
The beginning of the conference at the The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota was equally inspiring. I had the opportunity to meet its Executive Director, Robert Clarke the President of the Global Cancer Conference, Vivek Rangnekar, and to reconnect with my longtime friend Dan Welch. Throughout the meeting, I encountered extraordinary scientists and wonderful people whose passion and generosity were deeply motivating.
A special thank you to Eric Rahrmann, my session moderator and a leading researcher on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) , as well as to Katherine Wickham Rahrmann, Sabrina Terranova, and so many others for their incredible kindness and hospitality. These human connections are often as valuable as the science itself.
To top it all off, the sunny Sunday was spent exploring the beautiful city of Minneapolis – a wonderful way to conclude an amazing week. Thank you, Fabrice Lucien for making this experience possible.
Now, back to the beautiful city of Montpellier, carrying home countless new ideas, exciting collaborations, and inspiration.
Somewhere above the Atlantic, with my head still in the clouds, I realized once again how fortunate I am to belong to such a vibrant and welcoming scientific community.”
