Catherine Alix-Panabières: Excited to Share our Latest Publication on Liquid Biopsy and Immunopeptidomics

Catherine Alix-Panabières, Director of the Laboratory of Rare Human Circulating Cells and Professor of Universities – Hospital Practitioner at Montpellier University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Super Excited to share our second latest publication this week in a high-impact journal exploring a new frontier in precision cancer immunotherapy.

Good reading and please let us know your thoughts.

Immunopeptidomics has transformed our ability to identify tumor-specific antigens presented by HLA molecules – key targets for next-generation therapies such as:

  • TCR-engineered T cells
  •  Peptide vaccines
  •  TCR-mimic antibodies

Yet, conventional immunopeptidomic approaches still rely heavily on tumor tissue biopsies, which are often invasive, limited in accessibility, and challenged by tumor heterogeneity.

Our work highlights how combining Liquid Biopsy with Immunopeptidomics could overcome these barriers.
By applying immunopeptidomic strategies to circulating tumor-derived biomarkers – including circulating tumor cells (CTCs), extracellular vesicles (EVs) , and cell-free nucleic acids – we can now access dynamic and minimally invasive information on antigen presentation directly from blood samples.

Key message:
Integrating Liquid Biopsy and immunopeptidomics opens the door to real-time, patient-specific monitoring of tumor antigens, paving the way for more precise and personalized cancer immunotherapies.

This emerging field may profoundly reshape how we discover therapeutic targets, select patients, and monitor immune-based treatments in oncology.

A big Thank you to Doryan Masmoudi and Zahra Eslami-S.”
