“A reminder that GLP-1 drugs trace back to decades of NIH-supported basic science, especially diabetes/endocrinology research. This is why we fund basic research.”
To which Charles Jiang, Medical Oncologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, added:
“The hard truth: about 90% of the research is going to be useless, and only 10% will really meaningfully change the future.
The problem is, we don’t know which 10% it is.”
