Caryn Lerman, Director of Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at Keck Medicine of USC, shared on LinkedIn:
“Cancer fundamentally rewrites your story.
It changes how you see yourself, what you value, and how you live your life based on what matters most. If you’ve completed primary treatment for cancer, you know the relief of hearing ‘no evidence of disease.’
Yet, as the oncology appointments become less frequent, you might be left with a dozen questions about how to move forward. What do I really care about now? How do I want to spend my time? What kind of person do I want to become in this next chapter?
I’m thrilled to partner with Chip Conley on a 4-day retreat for people who completed their cancer treatment and are ready to focus on their next chapter as Cancer Thrivers.
Just to be clear, this work isn’t about the power of positive thinking. Telling people with cancer to ‘stay positive’ or ‘look at the bright side’ is invalidating, if not infuriating. This workshop is about exploring what matters most and forging an intentional approach to the next chapter of life.
Our next ‘From Survive to Thrive’ workshop is September 6-10 at Modern Elder Academy’s gorgeous Santa Fe campus. Learn more at www.meawisdom.com.”
