Carolyn Taylor, Founder and Executive Director of Global Focus on Cancer (GFC), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month.
As someone with lived experience of both ovarian and endometrial cancers, this month holds deep personal meaning for me. Too often, gynecologic cancers are spoken about only in terms of survival statistics or treatment protocols. What gets overlooked are the human stories, the voices of those living through diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.
Through my work with Global Focus on Cancer, I’ve seen how centering lived experience transforms cancer care. When people are meaningfully included in decision-making, systems become more responsive, respectful, and equitable. People-centered care isn’t just a principle, it’s a pathway to dignity, better outcomes, and stronger communities.
This month, let’s not only raise awareness of gynecologic cancers, but also reaffirm the importance of listening to, learning from, and working alongside those of us who have lived them.
Ovarian. Endometrial. Cervical. Together, our voices matter.”
