Carolyn Sousa, Commercial Vice President at Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine, shared on LinkedIn:
“According to Lung Cancer Europe’s latest patient report, 89.3% of respondents experience emotional difficulties following a lung cancer diagnosis. Behind that statistic are people and families navigating uncertainty, processing life-changing news and facing the emotional as well as physical impact of not knowing what comes next.
World Lung Cancer Day on 1 August is an opportunity to recognise those experiences and remember why improving earlier diagnosis remains so important. Every step we take towards helping people receive answers sooner creates opportunities for more informed treatment decisions and better support throughout their journey.
The conversations I’ve had with patients and advocates continue to shape my perspective. They remind me not to take everyday moments with my own family for granted and to make time for what matters most.
With that in mind, I’m grateful to be spending some much-needed quality time with my family in the mountains before another busy period begins.”
