“Last month, Panel member Dr. Carol Brown attended the National Cancer Advisory Board meeting to present the Panel’s 2026 report on the cancer workforce.
Dr. Brown provided an overview of the report and highlighted opportunities to improve cancer research training and strengthen cancer care teams. Key recommendations included:
- Creating cross-institutional partnerships to improve access to cancer care and clinical trials in rural and remote areas.
- Establishing cross-sector partnerships to prepare research trainees for a range of careers.
- Expanding education and training pathways for key roles in cancer care.
- Supporting care team productivity by addressing sources of administrative burden, including electronic health record systems and prior authorization processes.
