“A Movement Can Outlive Its Founders” – CancerWorld Honors Mary Buchanan’s Lasting Legacy

CancerWorld shared on LinkedIn:

A movement can outlive its founders. A legacy can continue through every voice it helped empower.

The European cancer community mourns the loss of Dr Mary Buchanan (1938–2026) – physician, advocate, and one of the founding figures of Europa Donna – The European Breast Cancer Coalition.

For more than three decades, Dr Buchanan championed prevention, education, screening, and patient advocacy, helping strengthen the voice of people affected by breast cancer across Europe.

Her legacy lives on in the movement she helped build, the partnerships she forged, and the generations of advocates she inspired.

CancerWorld extends its deepest condolences to Dr Buchanan’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Europa Donna community.

Her work continues. Her legacy endures.
