Nearly 20 years later, his vision has become reality.
From IMRT and image-guided adaptive radiotherapy to radio-immunotherapy, radiation oncology is now central to modern cancer care.
Through European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), EORTC – European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer, European School of Oncology, and the ICTR-PHE meetings he helped shape, Europe continues to lead research and innovation in this field.
Bernier’s message still echoes today: keep the faith in science, collaboration, and the power of radiotherapy.
