“Could Radiotherapy Offer Unexpected Protection Against Alzheimer’s Disease?
Breast cancer survivors often express concern about ‘chemobrain’ and long-term cognitive decline. But new evidence suggests a surprising twist:
Women treated for breast cancer, particularly those who received radiotherapy, may have a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease compared to their peers without cancer.

- Breast cancer survivors had an 8% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Those treated with radiotherapy showed a 23% lower risk.
- Anthracyclines were linked to a 14% reduction in risk.
