Showcasing the Incredible Work of the Innovative “Tell Her From Me” Initiative – Cancer Institute NSW

Cancer Institute NSW shared a post on LinkedIn:

”Gynaecological cancers are the 5th most diagnosed cancer group for women in NSW.

This Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, we’re showcasing the incredible work of the ‘Tell Her From Me’ initiative. Delivered by Central Coast Local Health District, the local-led project offers crucial support to women impacted by these cancers through the power of connection and shared stories.

Women undergoing treatment for gynaecological cancers are encouraged to write a card, sharing wisdom and reflections on their experience for someone at start of their journey. This aims to reduce emotional isolation, empower women and foster reflection and resilience.

Developed by Senior Oncology Social Workers, Cindy Lyons and Louise Diviney, the initiative keeps kindness and humanity at the heart of cancer care.

“Being able to sit down and really listen to a woman’s story, what she thinks and what she feels and to also have the privilege to pass that on to the next woman in such a meaningful way has allowed us to grow as clinicians and to focus on the real experts in what it’s like to undergo cancer treatment – our patients,” they shared.”
