Collaborative research that generates local evidence is essential for narrowing the research and survival gap between sub-Saharan Africa and high-income countries. Without context-specific data, health systems cannot design solutions that truly meet the needs of children and families on the ground.
This published paper ‘Local evidence in sub‐Saharan Africa; the CANCaRe Africa experience—Lessons learned and shared thoughts about the way forward’ shares key lessons learned while pioneering locally led, multi country childhood cancer research across Sub- Saharan African countries.
Their experience highlights both the immense potential and the practical challenges of building sustainable research capacity within African paediatric oncology units.”
