City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“C/Can is partnering with the Vietnam National Cancer Institute (VCNI), the Ministry of Health, and local partners in Da Nang to launch a city-level Breast Cancer Action Plan, the first time C/Can’s city engagement approach has been applied to breast cancer in Vietnam. The initiative is supported by Roche Pharma Vietnam.
Da Nang was selected after a comprehensive readiness assessment of local leadership, partnerships, and health system capacity. Breast cancer accounts for roughly one in seven new cancer cases among women in Vietnam, and the plan is grounded in C/Can’s structured engagement model, aligned with both Vietnam’s 10-year National Action Plan for Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control and the World Health Organization’s Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) Framework, a partnership between WHO and C/Can since 2023 aiming to reduce global breast cancer mortality by 2.5% annually.
Da Nang’s blueprint will be shared with other Vietnamese cities, generating lessons that can scale across the country.
