City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last week, pathologists, doctors, government officials, and academic leaders in Tbilisi sat down together for a workshop and left with a concrete plan.
The goal: making the Pathology Good Practice Manual Guidelines and Protocols the standard reference for cancer diagnostics across Georgia.
Pathology and laboratory medicine sit at the heart of cancer care. They directly shape treatment decisions and patient outcomes, which means the quality of what happens in the lab has real consequences for what happens to the patient.
The Manual and its accompanying protocols were developed through C/Can Tbilisi’s Cycle I programme, which ran from 2019 to 2022 and engaged 174 professionals across 27 institutions. They establish a standardised framework to help laboratories build robust quality management systems, improving the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of diagnostic results.
Last week’s workshop was about turning that framework into action. Participants agreed on how to share the Manual with institutions nationwide, what continuing education for healthcare workers should look like, and who is responsible for making it happen within the city and across Georgia.
Thank you to all local leaders and partners who made this day possible.”
