Fernando Mendoza’s Heisman speech was one for the ages. While he was talking about football, he was describing the exact mindset required to face a difficult diagnosis. He spoke about how you don’t need to be the “biggest” or “most hyped” to win; you need discipline, heart, and a team that believes in you.
To my patients and colleagues: This is a reminder that being underestimated doesn’t mean you’re out of the fight. Whether it’s on the field or in the clinic, belief is a powerful medicine.
