Bob Li Shares: Discussion on Strengthening Cancer Care in Communities at the ASCO Headquarters

Bob Li, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Medical Affairs, Oncology at AstraZeneca, shared on LinkedIn:

“Strengthening cancer care in communities.

Where someone lives should not determine the quality of cancer care they receive or their opportunity to participate in clinical research.

That belief was at the heart of an exploratory discussion yesterday with colleagues from ASCO Conquer Cancer at the ASCO Headquarters.

Together, we considered some of the challenges facing community oncology and exchanged perspectives on ways the broader cancer community can strengthen capabilities beyond major academic centers.

We had a meaningful dialogue on multidisciplinary care, specialist mentorship, community cancer networks, decentralized trials and the responsible use of AI to support timely, guideline-aligned care.

There is more to learn, but open dialogue across the cancer community can help us better understand what may be possible and where different organizations can contribute their expertise for patients.

I look forward to continuing these conversations and exploring how, together, we can help advance high-quality cancer care and research opportunities for patients in diverse, remote and underserved communities around the world.”
