“One year ago, I took a leap of faith moving from academia to industry, and stepped into my first role in industry as SVP Global Head of Medical Affairs, Oncology at AstraZeneca. Joining a world‑renowned organization as a senior leader required humility and an explorer’s mindset: listen first, learn continuously, and adapt with agility.
This first year has been an incredible journey and a profound reminder of the true power of partnership, showing how together we can drive change, at a scale I previously only dreamed of. Here are a few of my highlights:
- Building our MARS mission. Over the past 12 months, our team has brought to life what I call the ‘Medical Affairs Revolution Spirit’, a movement that embodies our goal of democratizing access to innovation and ensuring scalable impact for patients across diverse communities.
- Building Connected Cancer Networks: Launching the Pan-American Cancer Consortium at ASCO2025 was a standout moment. This initiative is set to revolutionize multidisciplinary cancer care through powerful cross-border collaboration and shared purpose.
- Accelerating Scientific Translation: Contributing to scientific breakthroughs, highlighted at major congresses like ASCO25 and ESMO25, and translating them into real-world benefits for patients has been profoundly rewarding.
- Cultivating Impactful Partnerships: We’ve deepened trusted alliances across the healthcare ecosystem, continuously expanding what’s possible for patient outcomes and ensuring broader access to life-changing innovations.
- Working with the Best in the Business: It’s been an immense privilege to learn from and collaborate with such talented colleagues and deeply committed partners, whose expertise constantly inspires me.
