Nina Shah: Advancing Blood Cancer Treatment at AstraZeneca

Nina Shah, Globan Head of Multiple Myeloma Clinical Development and Strategy i AstraZeneca, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month!

My journey from caring for patients as a haematologist to clinical research followed by working in the industry has shown me the power of connecting real-world patient care with cutting-edge science to drive meaningful change.

Every patient I’ve cared for has taught me something profound: that living with blood cancer means organizing life’s moments around treatment schedules. Missing graduations, postponing travel, choosing between work and infusions – many of my patients were working parents, caregivers and professionals who deserved to live full lives, not lives defined by their disease.

That’s why I’m grateful to work alongside dedicated colleagues at AstraZeneca who share this vision. We’re exploring therapies that could potentially offer durable remissions. Our rapid CAR T manufacturing platform can reduce autologous cell therapy production from weeks to days. This level of innovation is critical for patients with blood cancer because everyday matters when you’re living with this disease.

This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, I’m passing the conversation forward to Bruno Medeiros who will share his insights on how we can continue to push the boundaries of science in blood cancer, together.

Thank you to my friend and patient Erik for coming to AZ to tell his myeloma story.”
